An album that dropped a few months back, Say That Now is  an excellent bit of modern Americana-cum-country with Egge’s voice breathily buoyant and beautifully delivered at all times. On this showing, Egge is evidently a U.Ss talent to watch, catch and follow.

Her backing band here, the Sentimentals, come from an unlikely hotbed of Americana and country, Denmark, long associated as an award winner for the happiest people on earth and its main exports, Legos and lager beer. But this outfit work perfectly with Egge, switching front vocals at times and always pitching in perfectly.

At times Egge reminds of Linda Ronstadt, even shades of Emmy Lou and frequently a clear influence and admiration for Gillian Welch, but without the introversion and strangely subdued feel that Welch often imparts. For Egge rocks much, much more, with a lively, soaring feel to her music and a catchily popular vibe underlying the whole album.

This is an album I personally love. Since it dropped, I’ve returned to it time after time, and see no end to this in the foreseeable future. A slowish-burner, this is an offering to track a few times, then… you’re likely to be hooked. Grab a bit of this for top-dollar Americana that surely has a gilded future.
