Weep and Willow are husband and wife, Miles Nielsen and Kelly Steward, and there’s no better way to express the genuine artistic and romantic passion that roots itself in the Americana duo then through their own words. “The songs and sounds of Weep and Willow are two hearts connected with one thing in common, the love of an honest song. Lyrical honesty of a man and a woman who found each other in a dark corner of life. With a connection that sings, these are two human beings, that breathe life, hope, dreams, and love.”

Nielsen has found success in the past decade of his career both as a solo artist and as the bandleader of the Rusted Hearts, and, as the son of Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, music flows in his blood… but his talents have never found a more earnest outlet than in tandem with Steward. Miles’ brother Daxx, Rusted Hearts members Dave McClellan and Adam Plamann and Vandaveer collaborator, Duane Lundy, help the couple flesh out their sound on their debut EP, set for release on December 16th.

Today, Elmore is exclusively streaming the duo’s self-titled release. The four tracks that make up the EP are achingly tender, filled with the intimate, loving sentiments shared between the pair that are tender but never cloying. With songwriting chops and the joining of vocals, which hint of gentle country twang, the couple wears the heart of their marriage on their sleeves.

Their tight, earthy harmonies bolster the romance of “Over the Moon” (“Tell me that your heart is true, I’m the sun and you’re the moon”) and the subtle sensuality of “In Too Deep” “breathe on my neck like it’s the last breath.”

Fittingly, Miles told us, “I hope everyone turns these songs up loud while they’re enjoying a bubble bath.” Kelly adds, “Weep and Willow is two lives colliding and finding that their worlds are alive, and the harmonies are rich, and the songs are real, and all makes sense why every step you took brought you here to this very moment to make music.”

The debut is a tight, cohesive statement from the artists, and it’s over all too soon. Here’s hoping we’ll hear more from the duo, but if they measure their love in song, there’s no doubt we will.
