Fiddle instructor Annie Savage, who began playing violin at the age of two, rounds up her band, the Savage Hearts, for a unique, string-heavy release. Playing it Forward features standard favorites, traditional tunes, Latin-fused sounds and good old honky-tonk. Add in some Western Swing, and this is the perfect album for bluegrass lovers.

The important thing to remember about this Colorado-based band is their passion behind the music. Members of the Savage Hearts have collectively been a part of over 30 albums. Featuring students and professionals, they “play it forward” by specializing in high energy performances and providing educational outreach. The band’s own children and students can be heard on Playing it Forward, as well as well-known guest musicians such as Becky Buller, Greg Blake, Jeff Scroggins and Ellie Hakanson.

Standout tracks include “Working on a Building / Old Time Religion,” “Ragtime Annie (feat. Ellie Hakanson)” and the sweet anthem of love and hope, “Child’s Song.”
