This a rollicking. fine album, smashing stuff bursting with high energy and hopeful, upbeat music that veers from near-straight rock to blues without so much as a missed beat or skipped thought. Kathy, the leader of the band, is Kathy Murray, a Texan with around four decades of roots and blues behind her and an abundant sense of fun and forceful optimism.

All 15 tracks come from the band itself and in truth there seems to be no dead-wood in the mix. Each successive offering works blindingly well, with power to spare and enormous vitality and vigour. Alongside the Kilowatts, a band with some seriously strong chops and chutzpah, Murray has shared the stage with the likes of Albert King, Albert Collins, Bobby Blue bland and Koko Taylor over the years, paying her blues dues and gaining confidence and experience that sure screams from this offering.

Murray herself says she’s “….no one trick pony” and confirms her love for the blues is always paramount. With Let’s Do This Thing, she shows her intent with revealing clarity and success.
