Premiere: Flagship Romance

"Tales from the Self-Help Section" yields stunning single

As the Florida-based duo Flagship Romance, married couple Shawn Fisher (vocals/guitar) and Jordyn Jackson (vocals), live, work, and travel tens of thousands of miles together annually, even sharing a custom-built dual microphone stand. An inspiring union of hearts, minds and souls, their tender, oft-anthemic melodies come to us in harmonies one could barely separate with a single human hair.

Since the release of The Fudge Sessions, their 2013 debut, the duo has been on the road for upwards of eight months a year.  Now, their new CD, Tales from the Self-Help Section, documents victories, failures and lessons the couple have experienced over the last few years. The album combines intense acoustic guitar, lyrics of life’s wonders, soaring vocals and tender melodies delivered with those distinctive harmonies.

Shawn Fisher told Elmore how “If I Can’t Break Your Heart” came about: “Inspiration can come from the strangest of places, as well as the most awkward of situations. One morning, while on tour in the Northeast, we were awakened by the phone ringing. The answering machine kicked on and started broadcasting an intense conversation between a husband and wife. We shot out of bed and tried to turn off the machine, but it was too late. Months later, in a snowed-in bed & breakfast tucked in the mountains of Sparta, North Carolina, elements of that experience came out in the fierce lyrics of this song.”

Thanks to the Southeast Group, the video for “If I Can’t Break Your Heart” was filmed in the abandoned 1902 Marble Bank Building in Jacksonville, Florida.

Flagship Romance has aligned their musical career with the clean water cause, and back in 2012, Fisher and Jackson founded the Clean Water Music Fest in Florida, to benefit the 800 million people who lack access to safe, clean drinking water. Flagship Romance have raised over $125,000, 100% of which has been used for well building and tap-stand projects in Ethiopia, Rwanda, and the Sahel region of Africa.
