“I Got the Right” from Andre Bisson’s latest release, Break, really shows off the musician’s versatility. This is a melting pot of blues, R&B, Motown, and a ton of musical experience. Bisson himself has been performing throughout the US, Canada, and the UK, and his travels have no doubt influenced what you hear on Break. His music is all over the map, but each song flows smoothly into the next to create one, cohesive 12-track album.

From Northern Ontario, Bisson is an award-winning composer, arranger, guitar player and vocalist. Along with him for this ride are plenty of expert musicians to create an orchestra of head boppin’, upper body groovin’ sounds.

“Is This Happening” is a song with a lot of heart and soul, an exceptional big band backing and strong vocals. It would be easy to say this is a stand out on Break, until you hear the rest of the album of course.

His rendition of “Eleanor Rigby” is just as great as the original, doing the Beatles proud. It’s followed by the heart and soul of the live recording of “Nothing at All”, beautifully recorded with strings, smooth vocals, and easy melodies. It’s no wonder Bisson and his band were selected by the Grand River Blues Society to be a representative at the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

This album, this musician. This should be on your list.
