Seeing that Everyone Is Everyone

Swaggering rock, soulful blues, R&B and pop pour off a Vintage Trouble stage and wash over the audience like a tsunami. The quartet has toured 30 countries with The Who, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Lenny Kravitz, and Bon Jovi, among others, and appeared on Later… with Jools Holland, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, Conan, The View, and The Tonight Show.

Still, the band felt that their studio recordings weren’t catching the same feeling on record as they did live. “We started to listen to a lot of popular music—everything from Amy Winehouse and Adele to Bruno Mars and Lauryn Hill,” said frontman Ty Taylor. “We wanted to take something from the past and put it in contemporary framing. We decided to play what felt like pop songs would be with rhythm & blues and rock ‘n’ roll tension.”There’s a different life to the music. That was the entire mission behind this new phase. This music had to be able to hang with the greatest records we love in our record collections. That was the goal.”

“Everyone Is Everyone” was written in Italy when show was cancelled because of terrorist threats. While watching the news, Taylor feverishly wrote the lyrics on a scrap of paper, and completed the song in two hours. He told Elmore:

“With so many things and people in the world trying to separate us and point out our differences, we wanted to create something that emphasized the fact that we are actually more the same. The words ask the question of how much more proof do people need understand this simple fact. In our history, millions have fought and died in order to create unity. We gave the groove a deep, soulful earthiness so the phrase “Everyone Is Everyone” rang as a real tangible expression rather than a light-hearted cliche.”
