Salt Lake City Americana band Hollering Pines conjure a new sonic weather on the album Moments in Between, packed with its layered atmospheres, uncommon rhythmic textures, and carefully crafted songs, the album expands upon the band’s previous work, drawing a line from the windswept soundscapes of Daniel Lanois to the openhearted, sometimes melancholy, feel of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen.

Founding sister Marie Bradshow told Elmore, “American Dream” was my tongue-and-cheek way of pointing out that the idea of the American dream doesn’t really apply to very many Americans. This song is about someone who should (in theory) have all the opportunities that their parents had but can’t quite catch a break. I just tried to capture the irony of the person that does nothing but work, yet has no money.”

The Hollering Pines is led by harmonizing sisters Marie Bradshaw (guitar) and Kiki Jane Sieger (bass), with instrumental backing from Dylan Schorer on guitars and M. Horton Smith on mandolin and guitar, Daniel Young on drums.
