Premiere: Bryan Haraway tells How It Is

Near death to rebirth—in a year

Honest and heartfelt, Bryan Haraway builds upon the songwriting career that he launched with his Las Vegas-based rock band, Part-Time Criminals. On this self-titled solo debut, produced by Grammy-winner Chad Brown, he blurs the lines between Americana and melodic rock & roll with stacked layers of electric guitar, horns, pedal steel and shrewd observations on familial and romantic relationships.

After a near-fatal incident of acute liver failure, it’s fair to say Haraway has learned to appreciate the little things in life, and his songs here shine a light on important details that often go overlooked. Released less than a year after Haraway’s diagnosis with the liver condition that nearly claimed his life, the album delivers a carpe diem message in its exuberant melodies and detailed lyrics, words from a man who feels he’s been given a second chance to love and live better.

Haraway told Elmore “’How It Is’ is a thank you/love song to my parents, who put up with a lot from me as a kid and hung in there to see me be become a man. And it’s a big ‘Thank you’ to anyone who has ever raised a child.”
