Jack White Scores First Number One Album
For all the (crazy) hats that Jack White has worn, he has never hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 until now. He missed the top with his bands the White Stripes, the Raconteurs, and Dead Weather. But last week, his debut solo album, “Blunderbuss,” sold 138,000 copies and launched to the top. The rest of the top five was dominated by holdovers like Adele’s ubiquitous “21,” and Lionel Richie’s “Tuskegee.” “Blunderbuss” is ridden with White’s authentic sound, but features a preoccupation with love gone bad in its bruised lyrics of nosebleeds and burst lips.

Rock Band Train Bottles their Own Wine
Backstage of recent Train concerts, one can find the band enjoying a bottle or two of their new wine entitled “Save Me, San Francisco.” Train produces the red with ACME Wine Movers, a new division of The Wine Group. The new enterprise comes as no surprise being that the band started out in San Francisco, just a microphone stand’s throw away from the Napa Valley’s many wineries. Lead singer Pat Monahan said, “A couple of years ago, we decided that we wanted to start bringing San Francisco to the rest of the world, and we decided that we would start by bringing one of the best things that we know about San Francisco, which is the wine.” The Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. sells for $9.99 a bottle online and at restaurants like The Hard Rock Café.

Thousands of performers across the globe transcended barriers by celebrating International Jazz Day.

Duran Duran to headline the 2012 Outdoor Olympic Concert.
The 1980s heartthrobs, Duran Duran, will kick off the 2012 London Olympics’ opening ceremony on July 27 in London’s Hyde Park. This tradition features acts from each of the four parts of the United Kingdom. This year, the other headliners are Snow Patrol from Northern Ireland, Stereophonics from Wales, and Paolo Nutini from Scotland. The games’ opening ceremony will be broadcast on giant screens at the gig. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 4.

Gregg Allman releases memoir and arranges a book tour
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member came out with his memoir, “My Cross to Bear” on Tuesday. His memoir chronicles The Allman Brothers Band’s rise to fame, his struggles with women and drugs, and his brother Duane’s death. A recent release of an excerpt details his night with Cher and the worst date ever. The 62-year-old keyboard player and musician delayed the book tour after experiencing arrhythmia following a recent surgery. He cleared tests last Friday, so his tour will stop in Nashville, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City.
