Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers / Madison Square Garden / New York, NY / September 10th

Tom Petty delivered a moving 20-song set at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, performing all the songs fans eagerly hoped to hear. Petty was there promoting a new record, Hypnotic Eye, the only Billboard #1 album he and the Heartbreakers have ever recorded, but you wouldn’t know it from the crowd, enjoying sing-along classics like “Refugee,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” and “American Girl.” While Petty and guitarist Mike Campbell celebrated 44 years of playing together, the band was joined by blues-rock legend Steve Winwood to close the night.
