Ben Harper Documentary, Directed By The Legendary Danny Clinch, Premieres Sunday

Earlier this year, just before Mother’s Day, folk/blues/reggae/soul rocker—and recent Grammy winnerBen Harper released the acclaimed Childhood Home, a collaborative album with his mother, Ellen. Tomorrow night at 9pm EST, the Palladia channel will premiere Ben and Ellen Harper: A House Is A Home, a documentary chronicling the making of the album, featuring interviews and performances from both mother and son. Shot primarily at their family-owned music store in California, the film promises to be an intimate portrait of the Harpers hard at work.

Meanwhile, working behind the lens on this project was famed photographer (and sometime Elmore contributor) Danny Clinch. Having long ago conquered the world of music photography (seriously, you’d be hard-pressed to name an icon he hasn’t shot, from Springsteen to Johnny Cash and on and on), Clinch has increasingly received acclaim for his work as a director, with videos for Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and more populating his resume. Now, hot on the heels of his latest photo book, Clinch will bring his trademark touch to the story of Ben, Ellen and Childhood Home. Check out the trailer below, then tune in tomorrow night.
