Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn Take Home Grammy

Grammy Material

Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn played with each other so much and made such beautiful music together they had a baby. (OK, that’s a cheap shot, but true.) Shortly after, they added a collaborative album, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn (Rounder), to their growing family, and this week brought home yet another welcome addition to the expanding household, the Grammy for Best Folk Album.

Fleck, known for his innovative style and longtime collaborations with jazz pianist Chick Corea and Drumitar inventor Roy Wooten (aka Futureman), went downhome with his wife, celebrated banjoist and singer, choosing to play almost traditional music and-not entirely surprisingly-win awards for it.

Fleck, long known for his out-of-the-box approach to music as well as his onstage humor, joined Washburn for a cover of Europe’s hard rock anthem, “Final Countdown” translated into banjo.

Fleck, Washburn and the baby will be touring as usual, bringing a very unique show to a venue near you. Treat yourself!
