Premiere: Kalen Chase’s O Holy Night

Holy harmony, righteous rock

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Kalen Chase has metal roots, but as the first song he ever performed live, “O Holy Night” holds a special place in his heart—notwithstanding a few surprises along the way.

Born in Southern California, he grew up in Washington state, dreaming of becoming a lumberjack. Luckily for music, chainsaws weren’t in his future. His unique sound and striking appearance demand attention, and this singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer has since toured the world with major performing acts.

In 2006, Chase joined Korn on tour, featured playing an exotic array of instruments. Often seen as The White Rabbit, he remained with Korn until 2008 and had several successful collaborations before becoming the lead vocalist for Vimic. Now, building upon his singer-songwriter roots, hard rock persona and production experience, Chase has created a sound of his own embracing percussive delivery and sweet but cynical lyrics which draw his audiences to join in.

This track serves as a crossover to his singer/songwriter project and will appeal to both dedicated fans and new fans of the novel sound. Chase told Elmore, “Many don’t know this, but I started out in a Christian gothic metal band. We were horrible, but we were big fish in a small pond and we legitimately wanted to represent Christian fundamentals and help the youth in our community stay away from harmful decisions. This effort was met with an entire town boycotting the band and the church turning its back on my entire family. But nonetheless, “O Holy Night” was the first song I ever performed live and I wanted to take a little rock and roll approach with it.”
