Premiere: The Dales’ healthy future

Take us back to "The Wayside"

The Dales have attracted the kind of high profile attention normally reserved for bands with far more experience and collective credits. Their debut album, Marie, was inspired by Dales’ bass player Kyle Vanes’ girlfriend, who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2015. The album’s breakout single “Still the Love” is a life-inspired message about eternal love that was delivered in the throes of grief; the video received attention from the Stand Up To Cancer support organization, and various NBC and ABC affiliates featured the band on newscasts.

The Dales embarked on a yearlong tour that brought them to venues throughout the U.S. with acts like the White Buffalo and Cris Jacobs when they weren’t headlining concerts on their own. With impeccable harmonies, soaring melodies and incisive songwriting, the Dales’ songs resonate with strength, faith and perseverance, conveying an emotional connection that’s hopeful and eternal. The theme of the album is about life, love and making the best of the time we have.

On that note, co-founder Drew Lawrence told Elmore the genesis of today’s Premiere: “’The Wayside’ is a song about going back to a place where maybe you stopped believing in something and realizing that it’s not too late to give it another shot. For me it’s the story of the band coming together and pursuing an artist career after years of writing for others.”
