Joe Bonamassa makes concept albums, but not the type we’re accustomed to hearing. His are “themes,” often a double CD with an accompanying DVD. It might be a show with the extraordinary Beth Hart, an acoustic show in an intimate setting, or a tribute to Muddy Waters. With British Blues Explosion, Joe and company provide us with a history lesson and pay homage to the British rockers who helped shape the future. These are his heroes. They inhabit his soul.

If you listen to the CD, you will hear honest covers of Jeff Beck, Jimmy Paige, Eric Clapton, and anyone else once associated with the Yardbirds. Rock out on the killer piano-guitar clash of “Boogie with Stu” or soar into space with “How Many More Times.”

On the DVD you will be treated to rousing sincerity by “the man who keeps that spirit alive.” If you have any doubts, listen to his gut-wrenching take on “I Can’t Quit You Baby.” Follow the story as he shares Cream’s “SWLABR,” the song that helped decide his life’s path. Pretend you are in the company of Eric Clapton and the grandaddy of British blues, John Mayall.

Joe Bonamassa has been called the most powerful, most tender emotional and spiritual living exponent [of this music] in the world today. He lives to “pay forward” the music of those whose souls he inherited. Listen this album. Become part of the audience for the concert. Join Joe at the Cavern Club where he tears into George’s “Taxman.” Then you will understand.
