First Round of SXSW Bands Announced

Austin’s South By Southwest Festival is one of the year’s biggest music festivals. For a few days in March, music lovers from around the world converge on Austin, Texas for a week of new sounds from music’s most promising young talents. The 2013 edition of SXSW doesn’t get started until March 8th, but the first round of performers is enough to get anyone excited.

Every year, SXSW makes a point of mixing established artists with up-and-comers, and this year is no exception. Topping the first list of performers released by SXSW are British Invasion icons The Zombies and alternative-rock elder statesman Thurston Moore. Newer established acts like Brit rockers Klaxons and psychedelic folkies Akron/Family. A few Elmore favorites are also making their way down to Austin: Pokey LaFarge, The Dunwells, and Turbo Fruits will all be performing in Austin.

South By Southwest 2013 starts on March 8 and ends on March 13. Check here and at sxsw.com for more updates on the festival as they come.
