Rich Robinson, one-half of the duo that founded the Black Crowes, is heading back into the studio on his own. Robinson recently signed with Brooklyn-based indie record label The End Records to record and release his new solo album, The Ceaseless Sight.

The Ceaseless Sight will be Robinson’s third album since founding the Crowes with his brother Chris in the mid-80s; his previous two albums, Paper and Through A Crooked Sun, came out in 2004 and 2011, respectively. Robinson, for his part, is excited to be back making music after a relatively dormant three years with the Crowes. In an interview with Billboard, Robinson raved about the collaboration with his new record label: “(Label founder) Andreas Katsambas is a longtime music fan and has some very forward ideas on how to get music out there, but more importantly for me, how to allow the artist to create pure music without the inevitable commercial vs art clash that comes from a more traditional approach,” Robinson said. 

Robinson has been touring with the Black Crowes for most of this year, marking their first bit of activity in years. Robinson has plans to go on tour behind The Ceaseless Sight after the album’s Spring 2014 release date.
