Dave Grohl, Lindsey Buckingham To Lead All-Star Grammys Finale

Dave Grohl Lindsey Buckingham GrammysSPIN is revealing that Dave Grohl and Lindsey Buckingham will be leading an all-star performance to close out this year’s Grammy Awards. Nominated band Queens Of The Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails will be joining them on the Grammy Stage.

On paper, it seems like an interesting, yet random collection of musicians. However, all of the performers have one thing in common: they’ve all worked with the ever-busy Grohl. The head Foo Fighter is a frequent collaborator with Queens of the Stone Age, for whom he occasionally drums. He also performed on Nine Inch Nails’ 2005 album With Teeth, and Buckingham appeared in Grohl’s Sound City documentary last year.

“We’re incredibly excited about this number,” said Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich. “There’s nothing better than when the Grammys can rock out, and to have these artists all together on one stage, doing a number that, when they presented it to us, knocked us out, is going to turn out to be one of those Grammy moments that people talk about for a long time.”

Grohl is actually up for a few Grammys this year: his supergroup with his former Nirvana bandmates and Paul McCartney are up for Best Rock Song, while Nirvana is also up for a Best Rap Song Grammy for Jay-Z’s “Holy Grail.” (The song samples a few lines from “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” QOTSA’s album …Like Clockwork is up for Best Rock Album, and Nine Inch Nails’ Hesitation Marks is up for Best Alternative Album.
