Tom Petty is coming back with his first album in four years. Petty and the Heartbreakers will release Hypnotic Eye on July 29th via Reprise Records.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Petty described the album as a “back to basics” approach, hearkening back to his early New Wave albums such as his self-titled debut and You’re Gonna Get It. Petty and the rest of the band recorded the album intermittently between tours, a fine feat given how often the band are on the road.

The road is where Petty and the Heartbreakers will be this year as they embark on a long summer jaunt in support of Hypnotic Eye. Their tour will find them making stops at Virginia’s Lockn’ Festival and California’s Outside Lands Festival, as well as Petty’s first ever performance at Boston’s Fenway Park. Petty will also be joined by special guest Steve Winwood on tour.
