Tom Waits took the stage last night on the Late Show With David Letterman, performing his new song, “Take One Last Look”, as an ode to Letterman and his departure from the show next week after over 30 years of being a talk-show host.

Last night marked Waits’ 10th time appearing on the Late Show, his first appearence dating back to 1983, just a few years into Letterman’s career. Armed with his guitar and signature gravelly growl, Waits treated Letterman and his audience to a beautifully melancholy version of “Take One Last Look”, sentimentally crooning “This car looks like it could give us a good run/Our choice to leave was a good one/And take one last look at the place that you are leaving/Take one last look”.
