Marcia Ball Named Official TX State Musician

Today, May 18, legendary pianist, songwriter and vocalist Marcia Ball will be named an official 2018 Texas State Musician by the Texas State Legislature, formally announced through Texas House and Senate Resolutions at the State Capitol.

Thrilled to be receiving this recognition, Ball said,  “I am honored and excited to be able to represent Texas musicians. I hope in some way I can raise awareness of the creative community that we are all a part of.”

Alligator Records artist Marcia Ball holds ten Blues Music Awards, eight Living Blues Awards and five Grammy Award nominations. Born in Texas and raised in Louisiana before re-settling in Texas, in Austin, she has been inducted into both the Gulf Coast Music Hall Of Fame and the Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame.
