A lucky few were on hand to hear Gregory Darling preview his new album, Madly, at the famed SIR Studios, in New York. Darling, sometimes on vocals and sometimes brilliantly accompanying himself on keyboards, had his backing band from the album, Dani Robinson (Billy Cox Band of Gypsies Experience guitarist), Nigel Harrison (a former Blondie bassist), and Manny Elias (Tears for Fears drummer) providing excellent support. Highlights included “After All is Said and Done,” a punchy, rhythmic number that started with Darling at the piano and ended with him standing at the mic without missing a beat, much to the delight of the toe-tapping audience, and “My Name is Jack,” with his powerful, passionate delivery.
