Ticketmaster looking at facial recognition

Who's keeping tabs now?

Live Nation Entertainment, Ticketmaster’s parent company and a Heavy Hand in live entertainment, service fees, parking and hot dogs, has formed a partnership with Blink Identity, a biometric identification company that specializes in facial recognition (tagline: We identify people in motion”). The move is another step in the ticketing company’s mission to replace paper ticketing with digital technology, streamlining entry and the bottom line at the same time.

Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino reportedly said that Blink Identity “has cutting-edge facial recognition technology, enabling you to associate your digital ticket with your image, then just walk into the show.” No mention of the bag search, it’s handing the guy your ticket that’s a hassle…

Blink Identity  founders of the company note that it has “spent the last decade building and deploying large scale biometric identification systems in the Middle East for the Department of Defense.”
