Premiere: Steve Rodgers sends prayer “So High”

Lofty expectations for new CD, Head So High

Steve Rodgers’ focus for song writing has always been to write about the universal: emotions of love, heart break, pain, joy, using his own sense of wonder and magic of life. Son of the great vocalist Paul Rodgers, Steve Rodgers was also blessed with his own unmistakable voice to convey those feelings, and “So High” reveals Steve’s unique convergence of talents.

Having opened for and guested with very special acts both in the UK and US—Bad Company, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and the Robert Randolph Band among them—at his recent appearance at the world Famous Liverpool Cavern Club’s Live Lounge, Rodgers’ solo appearance triggered a standing ovation.

The videographer described the experience of making the “So High” video as “this journey with Steve, following the Route 62 across the Yucca Valley. We crossed road towns and encountered people while we were getting deep into the desert, looking for something pure and essential.”

Steve Rodgers himself told Elmore about the genesis of this song : “I wrote “So High” as a blues song initially, but then one day I was playing around with the harmonics on my guitar and the song took on a whole new sound. It echoed the lyrics of ‘send me an angel’ as it sounded like I was now playing a harp, and I feel it created more space and depth. ‘So High is about sending out a prayer into the Universe to bring someone special into my life and how I’d feel once she’d arrived.”
