You can tell a lot about a band by the audience. Attractive and talented, Colbie Callait leads a good-sized band which includes two happy couples, and there were plenty of happy couples  in the audience, which was split about 60/40, with the gals winning.  No Birkenstocks, no Harley logos, no diamond bracelets, no goth makeup—Americana’s heartland, right there in New  York City, and they got a huge welcome from the East Side, despite the new band’s name: “Gone West.”

Having burst on the scene a little over ten years ago with her Number 1 hit, “Bubbly” —followed by another ten or so Top 20 hits—Callait and her substantial band sang them as well as selections from the new CD, Tides.

It was refreshing to hear her often talk about the origins of each song. Not overlong, each introduction was to the point and interesting. All in all, a good show
