We expect Southern Avenue to make another leap toward fame with their second album, Keep On, set for release  May 10. The dynamic outfit has expanded its vision to embrace new musical challenges, and these prodigiously talented young musicians have met them all.

Carrying the Southern soul legacy forward, the band’s electrifying live show has wowed audiences at Bonnaroo, Firefly, Lockn’, and festivals in over 10 countries abroad.

Guitar phenom Ori Naftaly originally built his reputation in his native Israel before joining forces with Memphis-bred singer Tierinii Jackson and her drummer sister Tikyra Jackson. The band’s lineup is rounded out by versatile keyboardist Jeremy Powell, an early alumnus of Stax Records’ renowned music academy.

Frontwoman Tierinii Jackson explained to Elmore the cautionary message that prompted this original song: “’The Tea I Sip’ is about how miserable people gossip, often over a cup of tea… spreading things that aren’t always true. The song responds to this in a way that reminds you that gossip can go full circle, and you’d probably be better off minding your own business. Musically, we wanted a juke joint song but with a modern feel to it as well. ‘The Tea I Sip’ is full of sass and boldness for those who try to bring you down.

Southern Avenue is Ori Naftaly, guitar, Tierinni Jackson, vocals, Tikyra Jackson, drums and backing vox, Jeremy Powell, keyboards and Gage Markey, bass
