Shane Dwight has been around the block a few times, and with the release of his ninth album, No One Loves Me Better on Red Parlor Records, he’s really honed his craft. A wonderful mix of blues and honky-tonk country, the opener is the title track, and will easily hook you with its catchy lyrics and great guitar work.

A deeply personal yet gut-wrenching collection, it’s very nearly a concept album, and the tracks form up a loose story of love, darkness and redemption. From the dark “Bullets & Gasoline” to the fun and funky “Sucker,” Shane’s songwriting has evolved, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find that this album charts on the Top 100 Country Albums.

Recorded in Franklin, TN with an all-star cast of players including Kenneth Blevins (John Hiatt) on drums and Rob McNelley (Bob Seger) on rhythm guitar, this album is slick, powerful and groove-driven, and Shane’s raspy voice sounds perfect.

No One Loves Me Better, ends with “The Trial Of A Poet,” with a haunting resonator, and background vocals from the renowned Bekka Bramlett (Elton John) on backup vocals; it’s filled with fog, crunchy leaves, and a noisy creek. It’s genuine swamp music and a great closer for this album.
