A real musician, not just playing one

As long as we’ve had stages, certain actors have fronted their own bands—especially if they were well known. Many were just awful. Thank goodness multi-award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland is not among them. This man has talent oozing out his pores, and can actually sing!

Looking secure onstage fronting the Kiefer Sutherland Band, front man turns out to be another one of his callings. There are no re-takes, no one yelling “cut.” He doesn’t need that as a musician.

“Something You Love” is a catchy tune, one that will make you feel like dancing from the first beats. On “This Is How It’s Done,” too, you just can’t stop tapping your toes and dancing. Men were dancing alone, and then in small groups to this catchy song. When Kiefer covered Bob Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door,” he made it his own. The audience sang along to this cover, but I bet it won’t be long before they know every one of Sutherland’s original tunes and sing to them, too.

Sutherland appeared in his element as he took the stage. The crowd wasn’t large, but he played his heart out and every single person in the audience hung on every word. Couples embraced and danced in the back of the hall, and, after each song, the crowd cheered and jumped up and down. For musicians, that’s an award.
