Virtuoso guitarist Paul Barrere, best known for his work with Little Feat and Barrere and (Fred) Tackett, has passed away in Los Angeles. He was 71.

Originally hired as a bassist, Barrere’s guitar and slide guitar work with the Feat were spectacular for his nearly 50 years with the band. Barrere wrote the title cuts from three Little Feat albums, Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, Time Loves a Hero and Down on the Farm as well as the cuts “Skin It Back” and “All That You Dream,” among others.

In addition to Little Feat and Barrere and Tackett, he recorded and performed with Taj Mahal, Jack Bruce, Robert Palmer and Carly Simon, among many others. Paul Barrere will be missed.
