Exclusive: Coronavirus and Music

Cancellations abound, opportunities shift

We’re all on high alert with the Coronavirus, and it comes as a shock and disappointment to see so many events cancelled or significantly postponed. Coachella, Stagecoach, SXSW and others, not to mention Carnegie Hall cancelling performances in March, the list is long. Here’s a thought: Buy music.

Artists and their support systems—not just the band members, but also roadies and the motel and hotel housekeepers who clean their rooms—are SOL with this touring disruption. Performance income is an artist’s major source of income these days, so—all you music fans—think about staying home with some new music.

That $75 ticket to the “SorryNotThisYear Festival” will buy you a boatload of music to enjoy, in the safety of your own home, and help the artists who are also stuck in their own homes, out of work. Delivered to your door or computer, new music will last a lifetime.

Don’t stay home and freak out or mope, stay home and enjoy the opportunity.
