Richard Thompson performed at the Free Wednesday concert series that will brighten up every Hump Day in Woodbridge through September. Promoter Bill Brandenburg packed the Woodbridge High School with a serious turnout of enthusiastic Richard Thompson fans and still managed to maintain social distancing.

Thompson, a founding member of Fairport Convention, was accompanied by vocalist Zara Phillips (his life partner and his opening act) and David Mansfield on mandolin and violin. Thompson played for over two hours, performing his own “Stony Ground” and “Walking the Long Miles Home,” as well as Fairport Convention hits “Who Knows Where the Time Goes” and “Genesis Hall”— all told, 19 shining songs. A great time, and I plan to go back for more shows this summer.
