Morrissey Challenges Paul McCartney to Return His Knighthood

MorrisseyMorrissey’s been going through his share of health problems lately, but it looks like that hasn’t stopped the singer from causing beef with Paul McCartney. Morrissey recently made headlines with his specific demand that Los Angeles’ Staples Center go meat-free for his upcoming show there.

The Staples Center won’t be going entirely meat-free, but at his request, it will be adding more vegetarian food items to their dining options and meeting with nearby restaurants to suggest that they also add special vegetarian options to their menus. The Staples Center has also reached out to PETA regarding their hosting an information booth at the show. Morrissey is donating a portion of the proceeds from his ticket sales to PETA. So what’s the problem?

When fellow vegetarian Paul McCartney requested the same thing of the venue, they turned down his request. And Morrissey won’t let the former Beatle forget it. “Really, he should be happy for any victory on behalf of the animals,” Morrissey said. “I know he works tirelessly for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, but he also loves the British royals, whose treatment of animals is abysmal. The Queen herself wears enough fur to blanket most of Russia…If he cared passionately about animals, he’d return his knighthood. He doesn’t need the Queen’s approval. He’s given more pleasure to people worldwide than she could ever dream of.”

Morrissey also recently cancelled an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! because stars from the A&E show Duck Dynasty were also slated to appear. The show’s stars make products for duck hunting.

After cancelling a set of shows due to his recent hospitalization, Morrissey is set to resume his tour with his performance at the Staples Center tomorrow.
