Pink Floyd Catalog Now On Spotify

Pink Floyd SpotifyPink Floyd, one of the more notable bands to hold out from making their music available on music streaming and downloading services, have finally allowed their albums to appear on Spotify. As of this week, every Pink Floyd album from The Piper At The Gates of Dawn to The Division Bell is now available to stream on the service.

The band had been reluctant to put their music on Spotify, but they eventually gave in after making an offer to their fans: stream “Wish You Were Here” one million times, and the rest of Floyd’s songs would be made available. The song hit the million mark yesterday morning.

Pink Floyd have been notoriously reluctant to make their music available on digital format, often claiming that they prefer listeners to hear their albums as whole pieces of music. In 2010, they sued their label EMI for allowing iTunes to offer single-song downloads of their music, rather than exclusively full-album downloads.
