Going down to Jazzfest? For the next two weeks New Orleans is exploding with music from the fairgrounds to the after-hour bars, but one benefit show is not to be missed. Organized and headlined by the musical crown prince of New Orleans himself, Trombone Shorty, the event supports musical talent of underserved New Orleans youth. Shorty Fest is the largest yearly fundraiser for The Trombone Shorty Foundation and is presented in part by Acura. Proceeds will further the Foundation’s mission to pass down New Orleans’ musical tradition and inspire the next generation.

On the eve of the second Jazzfest weekend, Wednesday, May 1, The 7th annual Shorty Fest rocks the House of Blues. This year it will showcase music on two stages. Featured guests include The Soul Rebels, New Breed Brass Band, Tribal Gold, Lil’ Glenn & Backatown and Southern Avenue, with the finale being a full performance by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. The students of the Trombone Shorty Academy join Troy on stage, where past, present and future all come together. Special guests do show up to Trombone Shorty gigs! In years past, Stevie Wonder, Gary Clark Junior, Fred Wesley, many of the Neville family and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux have joined him, unannounced.

Tickets for the event can be found below. In addition to General Admission tickets, limited VIP and Patron tickets include a loge seating, an open bar and access to the VIP balcony and Foundation Room. Expect cool auctions and special merchandise for sale to benefit the Foundation.
