James Taylor is a hit-maker, guitar hero, five-time Grammy Award winner and inductee into both the Songwriter and the Rock & Roll Halls of Fame. But it wasn’t until recently that Taylor surpassed another performing arts milestone, gracing the renowned Austin City Limits stage. This Saturday, November 14, PBS will air Taylor’s debut, which he makes in the wake of the June release of his seventeenth studio album, Before This World.

As ACL reminds us, Taylor is “one of the defining musical figures of our time,” and his performance will feature not only cuts from his most recent record, but highlights from across his illustrious career.

As a special treat for our Elmore readers, we’re bringing you an exclusive clip that won’t air in the broadcast. “Copperline” finds Taylor in fine voice—that comforting, honeyed baritone, as recognizable as any in the songbook. “Copperline,” off of 1991’s New Moon Shine, is also a perfect example of Taylor’s peerless lyricism, able to draw one and all into his evocative, nostalgic breed of Americana.

Part of ACL’s 41st season, which has already brought us terrific performances by Cassandra Wilson and Don Henley, James Taylor’s hour long set will premiere on PBS, Saturday, November 14th at 8pm CT/9pm ET.
